Serving pool service and cleaning routes in all 50 states

IRS Authorized e-File Provider

You bought the pool route. Did anyone tell you how to write it off?

We are an accounting firm built for one trade: pool cleaning and service. Route purchases, chemical inventory, repair parts, seasonal swings, and the deductions a generalist CPA does not know to ask about.

  • Flat monthly fees
  • Enrolled Agent on staff
  • Built for Skimmer & Pool Brain data
  • Route acquisition specialists
15.3%Self-employment tax on profit before an S-Corp election
20%Qualified business income deduction for pass-through owners
15 yrAmortization period for purchased route accounts
100%Bonus depreciation on qualifying equipment

Federal figures under current law. Section 179 and amortization rules depend on your entity type, income, purchase agreement, and state — which is exactly the work. We confirm each against your actual return before relying on it.

The problem

Your CPA doesn't know pool service.

A generalist CPA files your return the same way they file a dentist's. That is how pool guys buy a $90,000 route, expense it wrong, and never recover the deduction they were entitled to.

Route purchases get handled wrong

Buying accounts from another pool company is an intangible asset with a specific amortization treatment — usually fifteen years, allocated across the purchase agreement. Expensed in year one or ignored entirely, you either invite an adjustment or lose the deduction.

Chemicals are expensed, never counted

Chlorine, acid, tabs, and salt sitting in the shop on December 31 are inventory. Filters, pumps, and repair parts on the shelf are too. A single 'supplies' number hides your true margin and your real deduction.

Cleaning revenue and repair revenue are blended

Weekly service, one-off repairs, equipment installs, and retail chemical sales have different margins — and in many states, different sales tax treatment. One revenue line means you cannot see which part of the business is actually paying you.

Seasonality wrecks your estimates

Northern routes swing hard between opening and closing season. Sunbelt routes run year round with a summer spike. Flat quarterly estimates fit neither, so you overpay in one quarter and scramble in another.

The service truck is a single line item

Truck, trailer, vacuums, poles, and test equipment each have their own depreciation story. Bundled together, you lose the Section 179 and bonus depreciation timing that matters most in a heavy buy year.

You are still a sole proprietor at $400k

Every dollar of profit is hitting self-employment tax. An S-Corp election with a defensible reasonable salary usually pays for our entire fee in the first quarter.

What we do

Four services. One pool service specialist.

Everything a pool service operator needs to stay compliant, stay profitable, and stop overpaying — under one roof.

Tax Planning

Proactive, quarterly, and built for a route-based service business that grows by acquisition.

  • S-Corp election analysis and reasonable-salary support
  • Route purchase structuring and purchase price allocation
  • Section 179 and bonus depreciation timing on trucks and equipment
  • Retirement plan design — Solo 401(k), SEP, and cash balance
  • Estimates that match your season instead of fighting it
  • Multi-state planning as routes cross city and state lines

Tax Preparation

Federal, state, and local returns filed accurately and on time — for the business and for you personally, coordinated so nothing falls between them.

  • 1120-S, 1065, 1120, and Schedule C returns
  • Personal 1040s coordinated with the business return
  • Multi-state filings and apportionment for cross-border routes
  • Intangible amortization schedules for purchased accounts
  • 1099-NEC and W-2 filings for subs and techs
  • Prior-year amendments when we find missed deductions

Accounting & Bookkeeping

Monthly books closed by people who know what a case of tabs costs and how a prepaid seasonal service plan should hit the ledger.

  • Monthly close with a pool-service chart of accounts
  • Skimmer, Pool Brain, and Paythepoolman reconciled to the bank
  • Chemical and repair parts inventory tracking
  • Revenue and margin split by service, repair, and retail
  • Payroll processing and sales tax filings
  • Clean financials your lender or buyer will actually accept

Business Setup

Starting a pool route, or finally structuring the one you have been running out of a truck? We handle the entity, the paperwork, and the accounts in one pass.

  • LLC, S-Corp, or partnership — chosen on the numbers, not habit
  • EIN, operating agreement, and state registration
  • CPO certification and contractor licensing guidance by state
  • Payroll, bookkeeping, and business banking stood up day one
  • Registration in every state your routes touch
  • Route purchase agreements reviewed for tax treatment

Money on the table

The pool service write-offs your last accountant never asked about.

These are the line items we find missing on almost every pool service return that walks through the door. Each one is ordinary, necessary, and defensible — it just requires someone who knows the trade.

How it works

From first call to filed — in four steps.

1

Free return review

Send last year's return and a recent P&L. We come back with what was missed and roughly what it cost you.

2

Flat quote

One fixed monthly fee covering the services you actually need. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices for phone calls.

3

Cleanup and setup

We rebuild the chart of accounts, fix depreciation and route amortization, correct classification issues, and file any elections that need to be made.

4

Ongoing rhythm

Monthly financials, quarterly planning calls, estimates handled, and a return that is finished long before the deadline.

Pricing

Flat fees. Quoted up front. No hourly surprises.

Three plans, a short list of add-ons, nothing custom. The plan decides what you get; add-ons only cover more volume, extra filings, or accrual books.

Questions

Still stuck? Text us at 480-602-2444 — a real person replies.

Do you only work with pool companies?

Pool service, cleaning, repair, and closely adjacent route-based trades. That focus is the whole point — we are not learning your business on your dime, and the strategies we run are the ones that repeat across hundreds of route operators.

How should a route purchase be handled on my taxes?

Purchased customer accounts are generally a Section 197 intangible amortized over fifteen years, with the purchase price allocated across accounts, equipment, and any non-compete. It is not a year-one expense — and if it was treated that way, we can usually amend.

Can you work with us if we are not local?

Yes. We are fully remote and file in all 50 states. Documents move through a secure portal, meetings happen by video or phone, and you can text your accountant directly.

We are behind on bookkeeping and filings. Is that a problem?

It is the most common way clients arrive. We quote cleanup separately from ongoing work, bring the books current, and get delinquent returns filed. No lectures.

Should my pool business be an S-Corp?

Usually once net profit clears roughly $60k–$80k, but it depends on payroll, owner count, state, and whether you are about to buy routes or equipment. We run the actual numbers for your business before recommending it.

What does it cost and how do you bill?

One flat monthly fee, quoted before you sign anything, based on transaction volume, entity count, and payroll headcount. Calls, texts, and questions are included — you will never get an invoice for asking us something.
